What It Is: The Seed Library is located at our Palmetto Branch Library, and was established in partnership with the UF/IFAS Extension Service. We have a variety of vegetables, flowers, and herbs ready for you to sow. Anyone, regardless of whether they are a library card holder, may contribute seeds for others to use, or take an assortment of seeds home to plant.
Our Philosophy: We are dedicated to community enrichment, encouraging members to garden regardless of their experience level. Whether you are a novice or a Master Gardener, all are welcome to participate in the Seed Library. We believe growing your own food is an important and valuable skill that anyone can learn and strive to provide the knowledge and resources to grow, harvest, and save seeds.
Visit & Join: When you walk into the Palmetto branch’s front/west entrance, you will see the Seed Library table to your right! Feel free to explore the flyers for our gardening programs and the informational handouts provided by the Extension Service. We have our seeds behind the desk for safekeeping and to record who checks out which seeds. To join the Seed Library, simply take one of the sign-up forms, fill it out, and turn it in at the desk!
