Preserves are open but trail access may be limited

As Manatee County Preserves and Conservation Lands reopen after the storm, some trails may be closed while we work to restore them. Please respect all posted trail signage.

Leffis Key Preserve will remain closed until further notice.

Emerson Point Preserve is situated on the West end of Snead island on the North shore of the Manatee river with Terra Ceia Bay to the north. It offers a network of hiking and kayak trails to experience a wide variety of coastal Florida wildlife and habitats. Ancient and historic remains of its inhabitants are accessible and well interpreted to give a sense of what life in Manatee County was like prior to and during its settlement.

THINGS TO DO

Accessibility

There is one paved trail that begins at the entrance of Emerson Point Preserve, traverses the entire preserve ending at the Point.  The North and South Restoration Trails are packed shell.  Be aware: Any area not on a designated trail may have a very soft surface.

Fishing

Available from the shoreline along the Manatee River and Terra Ceia Bay.  Please be kind to the vegetation when fishing from shore within the preserve.

Kayak/Canoeing

There are two places to launch within the preserve.  The first is located approximately 6/10 of a mile from the entrance.  This launch has a wooden dock and the Blueway Trail meanders through mangrove tunnels until you reach Terra Ceia Bay.

The second launch site is the beach located at the western end of the preserve.  The launch at this site provides access to the mouth of the Manatee River and Terra Ceia Bay.
