On December 14, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners adopted
Resolution No. R-21-189, which divides the county into five new commissioner districts composed of adjoining territory and as nearly equal in population as is practical.
The 2020 U.S. Census revealed:
- The population of Manatee County increased by 23.8% to 399,710 people;
- Growth in the eastern and northern portions of the County was much more rapid than in other areas; and
- The “total population deviation” among districts was 32.8%.
The Board of County Commissioners considered redistricting at multiple meetings in 2021, including August 11, October 19 and 27, November 9, and December 2, 7 and 14.
Maps and statistics are accessible from this page not only for the newly adopted Commissioner Districts but also for previous districts that were adopted in 2011 and used for elections through 2020.
