Juveniles Arrested for Family Violence Have a Lifetime of Issues
Not only can a family-violence arrest lead to an increased chance of future delinquent behavior, but it creates barriers to education, licensing and employment.
There is another option: A respite shelter—a cool-down” place in a safe environment. In a respite shelter, a child can:
- Be assessed by a counselor and set goals

Remain in assigned school and on track
- Work on emotional regulation and impulsivity control
