Manatee County Neighborhood Histories is part of the Manatee County Public Library Historical Digital Collections maintained by library Information Services staff.
This web portal highlights the history of many of Manatee County’s oldest and largest communities. It is a great starting point for residents old and new to learn about their neighborhood, as well as visitors to the area.
For a neighborhood to be considered for Manatee County Neighborhood Histories, several criteria are considered: historical significance of the neighborhood, distinctiveness, geographic and population size, whether it is a census-designated place, and the amount and quality of local historical materials in the library’s archive.
