Kids - Get a Plan
Emergency Management of Manatee County helps the community be
prepared for all types of hazards. They include hurricanes, tornadoes,
fires and other hazards. We work with all governments, emergency
response agencies such as fire, EMS, and law enforcement as well as our
citizens to write disaster plans. We provide training and conduct
exercises to practice our skills in being prepared for any type of
hazard.
Did you know a little bit of planning for these hazards can make the
difference in staying alive? Being prepared for all types of hazards is
everyone's responsibility, even kids. There are lots of things you can
do today.
How Kids Can Help
You can help prepare your family by making a disaster plan and a
disaster kit. It is easy to do and will make the difference of you and
your family staying safe. The State of Florida has a fun interactive
website just for kids from kindergarten age to 6th grade and up to help
you do just that. It will teach you how to become prepared. Best part
is, its fun and free? As a kid learning these tips, you will become a
prepared adult and be able to educate your kids someday too.
