Purpose
The Public Safety Coordinating Council shall assess the population status of all correctional facilities to ensure the authorized capacities of such facilities, as established by the Florida Department of Corrections, are not exceeded, and make recommendations as to release programs, gain-time schedules, applicable bail bond schedules, and confinement status of inmates housed within each facility owned by the County. The Council may also develop a local correctional facilities plan for future construction needs.
Membership Requirements
Membership shall be as specified by Chapter 951.26, Florida Statutes.

Meetings
The Public Safety Coordinating Council has elected to meet on the following dates in 2023 from Noon – 1:30 pm. All meetings will be in the Manatee County Government Administration Building – Manatee/Osprey Room 5th Floor 1112 Manatee Avenue West Bradenton, FL. 34205 unless otherwise noticed. Meetings may be rescheduled, or a special meeting called by the council at any regular meeting.
November 20, 2024: Regular Meeting- Reporting Period-September-October 2024
January 15, 2025: Regular Meeting- Reporting Period-November-December 2024
March 19, 2025: Regular Meeting-Reporting Period-January-February 2025
May 21, 2025: Regular Meeting– Reporting Period – March – April 2025

JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANTS
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant
Application Process: Applications will open November 1, 2024, and are due no later than January 6, 2025.
Review Timeline
January 2025: All applications presented to the Public Safety Coordinating Council for review.
March 2025: The Public Safety Coordinating Council will make recommendations for Justice Assistance Grant funding for the next FY.
April-July 2025: Estimated timeframe for Notice of Funding Opportunity from BJA & FDLE.
August-October 2025: Funding recommendations presented to the Board of County Commissioners for approval.
October-November 2025: Subaward and Funding Agreements created.
