I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 paving; drainage, utility, and sidewalk work on US 301; and, decking on the new bridges over the Manatee River.
- On Sunday, August 25, at 11 pm to Monday, August 26, at 5 am, crews will close the I-75 southbound off-ramp to US 301. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- On Monday, August 26, at 11 pm to Tuesday, August 27, at 5 am, crews will close the I-75 southbound off-ramp to US 301. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- On Tuesday, August 27, at 11 pm to Wednesday, August 28, at 5 am, crews will close the I-75 southbound off-ramp to US 301. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- On Wednesday, August 28, at 11 p.m. to Thursday, August 29, at 5 a.m., crews will close the I-75 southbound off-ramp. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- On Wednesday, August 28, at 11 p.m. to Thursday, August 29, at 5 a.m., crews will close the US 301 on-ramp to I-75 southbound. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- On Thursday, August 29, at 11 p.m. to Friday, August 30, at 5 a.m., crews will close the I-75 southbound off-ramp. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- On Thursday, August 29, at 11 p.m. to Friday, August 30, at 5 a.m., crews will close the US 301 on-ramp to I-75 southbound. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours or use alternative routes.
- Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on US 301 during nighttime/overnight hoursfrom 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on Tidewater Preserve Boulevard through the duration of bridge construction.
- Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and US 301 through the duration of the construction.
- Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is mid-2025.
I-75 and the 44th Avenue East Extension Project 6: Permit Project: Motorists can expect overnight detours of northbound traffic on I-75 as Manatee County begins placing structural steel girders for construction of the bridge over the I-75 northbound lanes.
Project #6 is the final segment of the 44th Avenue East Extension Project and includes approximately 1.9 miles of new roadway. Project #6 begins just west of I-75 and extends 44th Avenue East over I-75 to the existing portion of 44th Avenue East at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard on the east side of I-75. Lena Road will also be extended approximately 0.27 miles south of the roundabout. This added section will connect 44th Avenue East with the existing segment of Lena Road to the south continuing towards SR 70.
SOUTHBOUND: Beginning Monday, September 9, and continuing through Friday, September 13 (weather permitting), motorists traveling southbound on I-75 will be directed to exit at SR 64 and east on SR 64 to Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Motorists will then be directed south on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard to SR 70 and west on SR 70 to access southbound I-75. The detour will be in effect nightly between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. FDOT and Manatee County have worked together to coordinate signal timing during the overnight detours.
NORTHBOUND: Continuing through early September 2024, motorists traveling northbound on I-75 will be directed to exit at SR 70 and go east on SR 70 to Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Motorists will then be directed north on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard to SR 64 and west on SR 64 to access northbound I-75. The detour will be in effect nightly between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. FDOT and Manatee County have worked together to coordinate signal timing during the overnight detours.
US 41 Southbound ramp from 45th Street to South of US 19: Construction: Crews are repaving the southbound ramp and require single lane closures. Please take caution and add additional travel time. The project is only expected to last approximately two months.
US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvement project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.
- Motorists should expect shoulder closures including pedestrian access restrictions along the US 301 corridor north and southbound between 25th Court East and 9th Avenue East. Alternate pedestrian routes will be clearly posted. To maintain safety, pedestrians should follow the posted detour signage.
- Motorists can expect right-turn lane closures at the intersections of US 301 and Tallevast Road to 9th Avenue East from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Motorists can expect nighttime shoulder and lane closures along US 301 for milling and resurfacing between 63rd Avenue East and 9th Avenue East. Please use caution and be aware of crews in the area.
- Overnight work will continue at US 301 and 51st Avenue East on Wednesday, September 4, and Thursday, September 5, starting at 10 p.m. Traffic will be directed by law enforcement as the new mast arms are installed. Hold times of 15 minutes are expected as the new structures are secured. All approaches to the intersection will be affected.
The project’s expected completion is late 2024.
US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road Roundabout: Permit project: This roadway project includes widening approximately 1 mile of Moccasin Wallow Road from a two-lane to four-lane (two in each direction) between U.S. 301 and 115th Avenue East, roadway drainage, signalized intersections, street lighting, pedestrian-activated crossings, multi-use path, sidewalk, bicycle lanes and construction of a roundabout at the U.S. 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road intersection.
During the month of September 2024, occasional traffic lane shifts will be implemented on Moccasin Wallow Road from west of 115th Avenue E. to U.S. 301 to accommodate construction paving activities. Travelers are urged to exercise caution and observe the new traffic patterns and signals – especially at the intersections - as well as construction vehicles operating within the project area.
US 301 and SR 37: Construction: Crews have begun repaving in the area. Motorists can expect daytime lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please use caution in the area.
SR 70 /15th Street East: Construction project: Motorists can expect temporary flagging operations as needed.
SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes widening SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on SR 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).
This week, crews will work to spread, mix, and grade the roadway stabilization from Del Webb Boulevard to the eastern limits of the project. Roadway embankment grading will continue throughout the project limits. Drainage work continues on SR 70 between Bourneside Boulevard and Uihlein Road.
Work continues with construction of two eastbound bridges. Work involves removal of deck formwork and placing steel for traffic railings. Channel grading for eastbound bridges will continue. All work is scheduled for daytime hours.
All work will be off the roadway with no planned long-term lane closures. However, it is expected that eastbound traffic will be interrupted for short periods of time throughout the day with flaggers as the dump trucks cross from east to west at the bridge locations. Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.
SR 64 at Lorraine Road South and 145th Street North: Construction: Crews have begun work on the conversion of the traffic signal to a free-flowing roundabout.
- After Rye Road Roundabout, SR 64 is a single lane in each direction. Please use caution for shifting lane patterns.
- Lorraine Road is open for right turns only onto Lorraine Road or alternately onto SR 64.
- The traffic signal at Lorraine Road will remain deactivated.
- UPCOMING: A phase shift to the other side of SR 64 at 145th is anticipated to start at the end of September/ first of October.
SR 64 at Bourneside Boulevard to Rangeland Parkway: Permit project: Manatee County has closed this section of Bourneside Boulevard through October. Please choose an alternate route.
SR 64 from 43rd Street West to 15th Street East and from 10th Street West to 10th Street East: Construction project: Construction is underway for the 1.7-mile resurfacing project through the City of Bradenton. Please use caution.
- Overnight paving: overnight paving will restart on September 8 and will run until mid-October.
- Work schedule and area (weather permitting):
- September 8th at the US 41 intersection is anticipated to be the final mobilization; Work is scheduled for 7 p.m. through 6 a.m.
- September 10 and 11th - mill section near train tracks
- September 12th - full clean up
- September 15 – 19th finish paving East side
- September 22nd – 26th full cleanup of west section inside lanes
- September 29 – October 4th paving west side
- October 9th - complete paving west side

SR 64 and 117th Street: Permit project: Manatee County will be performing lift station improvements that will require a road closure on 117th Street East and SR 64, through October 9, 2024. Manatee County has revised their road closure: currently, the southbound lane on 117th Street will be open to traffic, the northbound side will remain closed. Please choose an alternate route or follow posted detour.
SR 64 from East of Manatee River to Bill Parrish Road: Construction: Crews are making drainage improvements and replacing ditch pavement, shoulder gutter, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. Please be alert for lane closures and/ or flagging operations.
SR 37 from SR 62 to Polk County Line: Construction: Crews will be resurfacing the roadway from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., requiring single lane closures through September, alternating between north and southbound lanes.
